I. Employability Competency Development Program (ECDP)
The ECD Program supports a placement of between three to nine months for each trainee at an organisation, government department or a company. The aim is to promote the development of technical skills and competencies, collaborations and networks that will enhance successful integration into the world of work and self-employment; to explore the career option they have studied, fill their skills gaps, and test out the skills and competences acquired.
Once an intern transitions into the Alumni, opportunities for ongoing support of mentorship, collaboration, networking, career counselling and leadership is available. ECD Program empowers talented early-and mid-career professionals and graduates to:
· integrate the knowledge and skills learned with actual work experience in the chosen career path
· gain hands-on work experience within the chosen field
· develop a network of professionals
· acquire and refine/hone skills
· develop professionalism and nurture confidence
Currently, the Academy is the one-stop-shop for entrepreneurship and employability skills training for early-and mid-career professionals and young graduates. Employability skills are transferable skills needed by youth to make them employable. Besides, good technical understanding and subject knowledge, employers often look for employability skills (combination of knowledge, skills, and attitudes) which are limited in the courses offered at the universities. Among other valuable skills, employability skills include communication, interpersonal skills, problem solving skills, critical thinking, using initiative and self-motivated, working under pressure and to deadlines, organizational skills, team working, ability to learn and adapt, numeracy, valuing diversity and difference and negotiation skills.
II. Professional Career Development Program (PCDP)
Acquiring skills and competences that will enhance successful integration into the world of work; and/or entrepreneurial and innovative skills for self-employment is the dream of each early-and mid-career professional and young graduate. We work to provide graduates with sufficient practical skills and/or skills-upgrading opportunities in their chosen field/career path relevant to the current and future labour market; and capacity to promote the acquisition and development of entrepreneurial and innovative skills for self-employment to advance in their lives.
PCD program nurtures confidence, professionalism, employability and competitiveness of early-and mid-career professional and graduate at national, regional and international levels. Each of the PCD program is facilitated by a world-class development and humanitarian relief professional and experienced profit and non-profit managers, all with vast theoretical knowledge and hands-on work experience within their chosen fields of specialisation, managing employees, and more willing to mentor, give advice and cultivating early-and mid-career professional and young graduate.
III. Development Policy Research Program (DPRP)
With its dedicated research wing, the Academy is committed to achieving excellence in research and scholarship and becoming an established home to the most talented quantitative, qualitative and mixed-method researchers from across the globe. It is committed to generating new knowledge, theories or insights about topics of interest and assessing the effectiveness of specific programs, interventions or policies that are relevant, development-oriented and aimed at providing answers to development problems.
Through our huge network of partnerships and collaborations, we contribute to solving real-world problems and the well-being of society. Our creative and supportive environment, the breath and interdisciplinary nature of our research spark entrepreneurial and innovative insights and solutions to the myriads of social problems confronting the global south. In partnership with partners in the different industries, we conduct ground-breaking research in emerging fields relevant to various industries and foster a culture of innovation and knowledge creation and sharing.
IV. Consulting Services Program (CSP)
As a means of supporting development aid policies and effectiveness of aid in the global south, the Academy is involved in the evaluation of development projects, programs and policies using a combination of qualitative, quantitative and mixed-method analyses including all the actors concerned. Evaluating the worth and efficacy of projects, programs and services is a core component of the services offered by the Academy. With decades of experience in evaluating projects, programs and services across a wide variety of topic areas, our dedicated staff have become grounded in both baseline and endline evaluation methods.
Our staff undertake evaluations both process and outcomes at different scales and varying timeframes; and support clients to develop evaluation plans and frameworks; and to establish monitoring and evaluation processes. We work closely and collaboratively with our clients to cultivate their ownership of the evaluation process and to ensure that findings and recommendations are useful, practical and relevant to all stakeholders. To ensure practical and impactful solutions, our seasoned professionals and subject matter experts offer specialized consultancy services to businesses and organizations who seek expert guidance in areas such as market analysis, strategic/business planning, project proposal writing, project management, career guidance and counselling and process optimization.
V. Entrepreneurial Skills Development Programs (ESDP)
Experts at the Academy are committed to enhancing the entrepreneurial skills of early-and mid-career professionals and young graduates. In today’s global economy, prosperity, both at national and individual levels depend on the ability to innovate in all kinds of economic activities. And entrepreneurship skills are vital to a successful innovation. To strengthen the existing youth entrepreneurship programs in the global south, we at the Academy, are dedicated to entrepreneurship skills development in priority sectors such as agriculture, fisheries, and tourism, ICT among others to promotion of self-employment and wealth creation.
